‘t Ei van de Duivel
The Devil’s Egg
The Devil has always been welcome in Amsterdam, where its wicked plans often come to life. One dark night he hatched a plan, and The Devil’s Egg was laid in Brouwerij ’t IJ. The devilishly good brew found it’s way around town where it was typically welcomed as an old flame.
’t Ei van de Duivel is a collaboration between the master brewers from Duvel in Belgium and our friends at Brouwerij ’t IJ. Brewed at 6.66%, this Black Rye IPA is full of Belgium craftsmanship and Amsterdam character.
Once we’d been briefed on the co-lab we created the entire concept, from the name to the illustration created in-house, to the alcohol percentage. Duvel is ‘old Dutch’ for Devil, linked to the iconic egg shape from Brouwerij ’t IJ (and IJ phonetically is pronounced as ‘ei’, meaning ‘egg’).
